Community Service

Since community service and pro bono activities require your time and our resources, we want to make sure you have the opportunity to work on something you believe in. You will find that all of our peers in the legal industry have dedicated resources to their communities, whether through pro bono work, financial contributions or volunteer work. White & Case distinguishes itself not only in its ongoing and deep commitment, but also through its dedication to support worthy causes that are not only identified by the partners of the Firm, but also by associates, legal assistants and administrative staff.

  • Pro bono Our pro bono commitment is extensive and far reaching. From tropical rain forests to juvenile immigrant deportation representation, our work spans cultural, geographic and political boundaries. Our associates receive billable hour credit for their work, and contributed more than 35,000 hours of time on matters that will have lasting impact on people’s lives and environment.

The Firm has developed deep relationships with local and national organizations including InMotion, the Inner City Law Center, the Legal Aid Society, Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights, Lawyers Alliance for New York, Volunteers of Legal Services and Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. In the last 10 years, the lawyers at White & Case received an average of four awards per year for their service to the community.

The Firm’s commitment to pro bono is further underscored by the fact that our Pro Bono Chairman James Stillwaggon oversees our pro bono efforts on a full time basis.

  • Volunteer Each office sets a program for involvement in its community. Much of the volunteer work we do is managed through our extensive pro bono efforts. Outside of our pro bono efforts lawyers participate in a variety of programs which are of interest to them.

  • Jessup and White & Case two names synonymous with international law. And now, in support of the Jessup mission, White & Case has joined the International Law Students Association (ILSA) as a global sponsor of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, with a focus on the development and support of national and regional Jessup competitions. Please click here for more information.
  • Outreach programs White & Case believes deeply that we have an obligation to help those who cannot always help themselves. We continue to make a substantial investment in the welfare and advancement of human lives by donating to several prominent organizations dedicated to education, charitable causes, healthcare, human rights and the environment.
