Practice Experience

Anand Damodaran is an associate in the Investment Funds practice of the firm’s London office. Anand has a wide range of experience in the investment funds arena, including advising on the establishment of several private equity, real estate and hedge funds, negotiating contracts with service providers to funds, assisting with the establishment of carried interest and co-investment schemes and assisting potential investors with the primary and secondary purchases of interests in funds.

Anand has also completed a 7 month client secondment with the London branch of UBS AG, where he worked as part of the prime brokerage division supporting various hedge funds.

Examples of recent representations include:

Acting for two sponsors (in India and UK) who are jointly establishing a US$ 200 million Indian real estate fund;
Acting for a major French bank on the establishment and US$ 600 million closing of its insurance risks fund;
Representing a large Northern European private equity house on the establishment and €4.25 billion closing of its latest northern European private equity fund;
Representing the private equity/venture capital unit of one of India’s largest banks on the formation of its recent US$ 810 million Indian private equity fund;
Representing a major European activist hedge fund in negotiating and agreeing prime brokerage terms with three prime brokers in London;
Representing the leveraged finance team within one of UK’s largest retail banks in the establishment of a co-investment scheme for certain senior executives; and
Representing various institutions in their negotiations with fund sponsors and secondary market sellers of private fund interests.
