Practice Experience
Anja is an associate in the Firm's Banking & Capital Markets group in London, specialising in leveraged finance transactions and general bank lending. Her experience includes advising banks and other finance providers as well as corporate borrowers on a range of issues including development finance, senior debt facilities, mezzanine funding, loan portfolio acquisitions and divestments, trade finance and project based lending programmes, restructurings, leveraged finance transactions and general bank lending. Before joining White & Case in January 2007, she worked for a leading New Zealand law firm.
Recent representative transactions include:
Acting for Bank Austria, Goldman Sachs, ING London and Raiffeisen as Mandated Lead Arrangers in connection with the US$315 million senior leveraged financing for Lion Capital as sponsor. The target was Russian Alcohol Group, a producer and distributor of mid-market and sub-premium spirits and long drinks, notably Green Mark Vodka. This was the second-ever foreign sponsor-driven LBO in Russia. White & Case acted on the first, Nidan Soki, in 2007;
Acting for Goldman Sachs as mandated lead arranger in connection with the provision of credit facilities to a Lion Capital incorporated SPV for the acquisition of Russian juice manufacturer OAO Nidan Soki by Lion. The financing comprised senior, revolver, mezzanine and PIK facilities and is the first ever foreign sponsor-driven LBO in Russia, and included innovative structuring to give an effective security package in Russia. Nidan Soki recorded a turnover of approximately US$270 million in 2006 making it the fourth largest juice producer in Russia;
Acting for Merrill Lynch International in connection with the £112.5 million and £37.5 million loans to Delek Motorway Services UK Limited to fund the acquisition of RoadChef;
Acting for Merrill Lynch International on a US$80 million term and working capital loan to Beyaz Filo Oto Kiralama A.S. of Turkey; and
Acting for Merrill Lynch International in relation to the taking of new security from FIMA Group over shares of Podravka dd.
