Decision
A WTO Panel has ruled that the European Communities violated its WTO obligations by imposing customs duties on information technology products that should have been granted duty-free treatment under the 1996 InformationTechnology Agreement (ITA). The Panel upheld the complaint of the United States, Japan and Chinese Taipei that the imposition of duties on these goods breached the EC's tariff bindings under GATT Article II.
