Carolyn Lamm Named "Visionary" for 2010
June 7, 2010, Legal Times

Legal Times named Washington, DC partner Carolyn Lamm one of its "Visionaries" for 2010 for her role as president in leading the American Bar Association. "Visionaries," according to Legal Times, are "attorneys whose business or legal acumen has been key to expanding their firms, improving government or advancing the law."

Carolyn "ushered in a new management team and shifted how the ABA thinks about its members," noted Legal Times. Facing challenges created by the current economic climate in recruiting new members—especially solo practitioners, government lawyers and those who work for nonprofits—she announced in February a change in the ABA's dues structure, giving solo practitioners a 50% cut and others a 25% cut. In addition, "armed with the advice of an outside marketing consultant," she pushed "additional offerings in networking and continuing legal education," according to Legal Times. She also oversaw changes in the ABA's management personnel to increase its effectiveness.
