White & Case won EuroWeek Asia's "Asia Pacific Leveraged Deal Of the Year" at its Syndicated Loans & Leveraged Finance Awards 2008 for advising the five mandated lead arrangers—Deutsche Bank, GE Commercial Finance, ING Bank, Morgan Stanley and DBS—on Kohlberg Kravis Roberts' (KKR) acquisition of Unisteel, a publicly listed company based in Singapore that is a leading precision engineering solutions provider.

The financing consisted of a $280 million facility to a special-purpose company owned by KKR to take Unisteel private. The transaction was KKR's second public-to-private LBO in the Singapore technology sector in the past two years, following the 2007 LBO of MMI Holdings Limited, a transaction on which White & Case also advised the joint mandated lead arrangers.

The White & Case team was led by John Hartley in Hong Kong.
