
Project Finance Team of the Year – Asia

White & Case was named "Project Finance Team of the Year" for the Asia region by IFLR at its annual Asia awards ceremony held in Hong Kong on March 1st 2007.
IFLR noted: "White & Case had an excellent 2006 in project finance. The Firm was involved in an impressive two (out of three) short-listed deals. Its team advised Saudi Aramco, in what was Saudi Arabia's largest-ever project financing (Rabigh Refinery). The Firm was also singled out for its impressive coordination of the project sponsors in the Tangguh LNG project financing.
White & Case also acted for Cygnus LNG Shipping and Pacific Hope Shipping on non-recourse financing of two newly built LNG tankers. These financings represented the fourth and fifth financings of LNG tanker projects sponsored by The Tokyo Electric Power Company."
At the same awards, SoftBank's acquisition of Vodafone's Japanese mobile telephony operations, Vodafone K.K., was named "M&A Deal of the Year." White & Case's role was advising Deutsche Bank in connection with the financing arrangements for SoftBank. The deal was described by IFLR as "a landmark corporate and financing transaction at US $15 billion…the largest LBO in Asia in 2006".
