Chris Curran Named “Visionary” for 2009
June 2009, Legal Times
Legal Times named Washington, DC partner Chris Curran one of its nine "Visionaries" for 2009 for his role in representing the government of Libya in an agreement with the US government regarding terrorism claims stemming back to the 1980s. Chris orchestrated bilateral negotiations and brokered a deal in which Libya agreed to pay about $1.5 billion to victims' families in exchange for immunity from future terrorism-related suits. According to Legal Times, "In tough times, these attorneys found ways to build up their law firms. In complex legal clashes, they pushed for wise solutions. And in government disputes, they insisted on democratic and constitutional answers."
