White & Case Awarded Law Firm of the Year 2009 for Dispute Resolution

White & Case was awarded "Best Law Firm of the Year 2009 for Dispute Resolution" by the Juve Guide at the Juve Awards on 29 October 2009. The Juve Guide is the leading legal directory in Germany.

In bestowing the award on White & Case, the Juve Guide noted: "Anyone capable of mastering the challenge of the largest, 1.8 billion Euro, loan portfolio transaction in 2008 right in the middle of the financial crisis either has nerves of steel—or can like White & Case rely on the unprecedentedly close degree of cooperation shown by its litigation and corporate lawyers."

The Juve Guide added: "Their success is the logical consequence of a targeted implementation of a strategy aimed towards attaining a seamless line-up that goes beyond the confines of practice area or office location. This great achievement is in large part thanks to Berlin partner Christian Wirth, who has proven himself to be the ideal helmsman for the new course. The situation today is that virtually all the [German] offices are staffed by the proper mix of experienced litigators and members of an ambitious younger generation of partners."

In addition, "The fresh wind now blowing is also attracting top-class laterals, such as arbitration specialist Dr. Patricia Nacimiento, who joined the firm from Nörr in mid-2008—an event which in itself led to a considerable increase in the quality of mandates. The advice provided in the currently booming field of investment protection to a major project developer with regard to an East European state is just one of the many highlights of her practice. There has been a noticeable increase in the German offices’ international arbitration mandates – showing clearly that they have succeeded in linking in to the global network."

The Guide also pointed to the arrivals of Dr. Lutz Krämer in 2007 and, more recently, Dr. Alexander Kiefner, in strengthening the Firm's corporate litigation capabilities and in developing Frankfurt into the Firm's own corporate litigation center.
