White & Case Awarded Law Firm of the Year 2009 for Corporate Law
October 2009, Juve
White & Case was honored with the "Juve Law Firm of the Year 2009" award for corporate law by the Juve Guide, the leading legal directory in Germany. Research for Juve awards are based on 1,000 client interviews and approximately 10,500 peer interviews with German and international firms.
In bestowing the corporate law award on White & Case, the Guide noted: "To transform an international M&A-focused corporate practice into a single unit that is able to progress into giving advice to German stock corporations is a remarkable achievement. This is exactly what White & Case has achieved over the past two years." The Guide added that "Dr. Lutz Krämer has played a key role" in this achievement and that his "'extraordinary abilities as a team leader' (to quote a client) allowed the practice to concentrate on a specific circle of clients—in particular, medium-sized companies listed on the Stock Exchange." Pointing to "the successful cross-office integration" of the practice, the Guide said the deal highlight of the year was Dr. Volker Land’s leading the Firm in its advising the city of Hamburg and the German Federal State of Schleswig-Holstein on the restructuring of HSH Nordbank. The Guide also acknowledged Matthias Kasch of the Frankfurt office as "one of the leading lawyers on the Main for a long time" and cited "his excellent contacts in the banking scene" that "paid off with the mandate for the planned merger of DZ bank with WGZ Bank." Finally, the Guide mentioned that "the next generation is also increasingly developing its profile" and "the most visible new player is Dr. Robert Weber who has established an excellent Shareholders' Meeting practice."
