White & Case Awarded Law Firm of the Year 2009 for Public Environmental and Planning Law

White & Case was honored with the "Juve Law Firm of the Year 2009" award for public environmental and planning law by the Juve Guide, the leading legal directory in Germany. Research for Juve awards are based on 1,000 client interviews and approximately 10,500 peer interviews with German and international firms.

"'Higher, Faster, Further' is the motto of the Firm's Public Law team," according to the Guide. "The practice has developed dynamically in the energy sector—in terms of transactions as well as large infrastructure projects," notes the Guide, and "due to their work on pipeline projects and in CO₂ matters, 'are ahead of the competition,' according to a client". The Guide pointed to Dr. Kersten Wagner-Cardenal's promotion of the practice for several years, and that "thanks to its positioning in the energy sector over many years… it can now fully benefit from the continuing boom in power plant construction." Berlin and Düsseldorf partners "substantially boost the business" and the Guide cited one client's praise of M&A partner Dr. Jörg Kraffel for the "'smooth handling' of a deal" demonstrating "that the new cross-office approach does not only exist on paper, but is experienced and valued by clients." A major advantage for the practice, added the Guide, is "the work of Dr. Henning Berger" whose "specialist knowledge of the Deposit Protection Fund (Einlagensicherungsfond) is something that almost no other practice can boast or provide."
