White & Case Wins Rail Finance Law 2008

Global law firm White & Case LLP won the Rail Finance Law category at the Jane’s Transport Finance Awards for its role in advising on the £3.6 billion sale of Angel Trains.  To date, this remains the biggest private equity deal of 2008 and illustrates the Firm’s ability to undertake complex, premium M&A transactions.
 
The White & Case team was led by partner Peter Finlay, working closely with a dedicated team of lawyers in London, Frankfurt, Brussels, Paris and Warsaw.

Angel Trains, a leading provider of railway rolling stock in both the UK and Continental Europe, was sold by Royal Bank of Scotland to a consortium of investors.  Its is one of three rolling stock companies in the UK and provides approximately 4,100 passenger train vehicles and 280 freight locomotives to passenger and freight operators.  In Continental Europe, Angel Trains has operations in 11 countries and provides approximately 240 locomotives and 180 passenger trains, locomotives and wagons in build.
