Since the division of Czechoslovakia into the Czech and Slovak Republics in 1993, our teams of Slovak-trained lawyers have remained engaged in this dynamic legal environment as the two countries’ legal systems have diverged. In response to rapid growth in our clients’ activities, we established a White & Case office in the historical center and capital city of Bratislava in 1997.

Our experienced Slovak and U.S. lawyers are able to serve clients in the Slovak, Czech, English and French languages. We have access to experienced Slovak-qualified attorneys in Prague, who integrate with the Bratislava office to deepen our on-the-ground resources. Our Bratislava office also draws on the extensive capabilities of the White & Case global network to assist clients doing business in Slovakia.

In the past decade, our Bratislava team has been involved in a significant number of high-profile privatization projects in the Slovak Republic and has developed strong M&A and banking and finance practices. We also are building significant corporate and real estate practices. We are one of just a few law firms in Slovakia that can simultaneously advise on the legal and tax aspects of transactions, providing a valuable service to clients and investors attracted to the country’s favorable investment climate and incentives.

The Bratislava office, in cooperation with the White & Case team based in Brussels, also advises on a full range of EU law issues and on the impact of EU legislation on our clients’ businesses.
