Mergers & Acquisitions/Corporate Associate
White & Case Tokyo is seeking a mid-level associate for its very successful and growing Mergers & Acquisitions/Corporate practice.
All candidates should have significant experience in drafting and negotiating documents for M&A transactions, joint ventures and cross-border commercial transactions, as well as general corporate law experience.
Candidates should also have at least 3 years of post-qualification experience outside of Japan and strong drafting skills are required. Must be qualified in the UK, US, Canada or a jurisdiction (such as Australia) where a qualified attorney is eligible to sit for the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test for England.
Business level Japanese skills are highly preferred but not required. Candidates should have a sincere interest in developing a long-term career in Japan.
Competitive compensation offered. Will cover moving expenses to Japan.

Capital Markets Associate
White & Case Tokyo is seeking a junior to mid-level associate for the following position and with the following qualifications:
- The position would be in our highly successful and collegial Investment Funds and Financial Regulatory Practices, working mainly on the documentation of new, and redocumentation of existing, investment funds. Depending on firm workload, other assignments may also be available.
- All candidates must have substantial experience in drafting structured investment, private equity or hedge funds and experience in closing fund investment transactions. Experience in general financing and/or general corporate matters will also be considered.
- Strong drafting skills are a requirement.
- Some background in US or other relevant investment advisory and investment management regulatory practice would be a substantial plus.
- Candidates must be qualified in the US, UK, Canada or any other jurisdiction (such as Australia) where a qualified attorney is eligible to sit for the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test for England. Preferably qualified for 2 to 4 years.
- Preferably 2 years of post-qualification practice outside Japan.
- MBA, CFA, CAIA or other financial specialty qualification desirable but not essential.
- Ability to speak business Japanese at a level adequate to participate actively in meetings conducted in Japanese is a plus but not a requirement.
- Candidate should have sincere interest in developing a long-term career in Japan.
