Fact: Just about every single law student will say that pro bono is one of the most important aspects of law in which to be involved. At White & Case, we give you ample opportunity to prove your commitment through lots of hands-on experience.

As a summer associate and a first-year associate you’re actually required to work on pro bono. (With your fresh textbook knowledge, you’re ideally positioned for it.) But, far from playing a bit part in a project, you will be coordinating your own project with the guidance of your supervisor––from organizing and running internal and external meetings, to working inside the courts, to everything else.

To make pro bono more accessible, pro bono hours are included in your billable time––that’s how we back your commitment with ours. In fact, each year we spend tens of thousands of hours pursuing pro bono work globally on an incredible array of different projects.

Pro bono is also part and parcel of our diversity focus - many, if not most, of the cases we work on involve empowering women, handling minority issues, helping children, immigration and more. Beyond that, with few exceptions we don’t limit what opportunities you can explore––if you’re committed to a cause, you have the freedom to pursue it. Most of the growth in our pro bono work is actually through the interest of our lawyers in tackling different issues.
