Practice Experience
Christophe von Krause specializes in international commercial arbitration and dispute resolution. He has appeared before a variety of international arbitral tribunals under the rules of the major arbitration institutions, such as the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), and ad hoc arbitral tribunals, including under the UNCITRAL rules. His sector experience includes, in particular, construction, oil and gas, hotels and leisure, pharmaceutical, and corporate disputes. Christophe also has extensive experience advising on pre-arbitration disputes and negotiating complex dispute settlement agreements.

Christophe has represented clients in both English and French language arbitrations. He performs written and oral advocacy in both languages. He has worked with the civil laws of numerous jurisdictions, in particular in North Africa, Russia, Central and Eastern Europe, and Asia, and has represented clients from diverse cultural and geographic backgrounds.

Christophe has recently represented clients in the following cases:
  • ICC arbitration in Paris governed by Algerian law concerning the relocation and construction of a gas plant in Algeria;
  • ICC arbitration in Brussels governed by Russian law related to the construction of an industrial manufacturing facility in Russia;
  • ICC arbitrations in Stockholm in respect of the design and construction of a major infrastructure project;
  • ICC arbitration in Geneva governed by Swiss law in respect of a joint-venture dispute in the pharmaceutical sector;
  • ICC arbitration in Paris governed by French law in respect of a post-M&A dispute in the pharmaceutical sector;
  • SCC arbitration in Stockholm governed by Russian law related to the construction of an industrial facility in Russia;
  • ICC arbitration in Paris governed by Algerian law arising out of the operation of a hotel in Algiers;
  • ICC arbitration in Paris governed by French law related to a post-M&A transaction dispute in Macedonia in the mining industry;
  • Two ICC arbitrations in Paris governed by Czech law and Romanian law arising out of financial disputes in connection with the operation of hotels in Eastern Europe;
  • Arbitration in Zagreb under the rules of the Zagreb Chamber of Commerce governed by Croatian law arising out of an hospitality development project in Croatia;
  • Ad-hoc arbitration in Tunis under UNCITRAL rules and governed by Tunisian law, in respect of an hospitality operation and development project, including related litigation in Tunisia for the recognition of the award;
  • Pre-arbitration dispute regarding an international development project in Algeria; and
  • Pre-arbitration dispute in Algeria governed by Algerian law regarding a major infrastructure project.

Christophe is ranked by legal publications among the leading arbitration practitioners with Chambers Global 2011 "pinning him as a rising star at White & Case" and describing him as "dynamic and hard-working"; and Legal 500, 2010 affirming "Rising star Christophe von Krause receives an increasing number of instructions in the construction, energy and investment sectors".

Christophe also has strong dispute experience in Algeria, where he is ranked as leading individual by Legal 500 Algeria 2011. Before focusing his practice on international arbitration, Christophe also advised French and foreign industrial groups on international corporate, M&A and hospitality transactions in both France and abroad.

Prior to joining White & Case, Christophe spent time in West Africa with an international law firm advising foreign investors in the oil and gas, mining and industrial sectors.
