A Message from the Chair
Fostering diversity and creating an environment where each lawyer, and indeed each employee, is motivated and assisted to work to the best of his or her ability has long been of utmost importance to this Firm. We are taking steps to further institutionalize this effort and ensure the hiring, retention and promotion of a diverse work force.
Manager of diversity programs, Maxine Williams, provides a full-time, enthusiastic and creative force to help organize, spearhead and develop the Firm’s diversity efforts.
A cornerstone for achieving our goals is the New York Office Diversity Committee, of which the members are M. Elaine Johnston (Chair), Marc Ackerman, Joseph Brazil, Sylvia Chin, Carter Clements, Claudine Columbres, Clement Fondufe, John Lillis, David Koschik, Laura Sizemore and Jim Trainor. This committee encourages the nationalization of our diversity efforts by inviting representatives from each of our U.S. offices to participate in our monthly strategy meetings.
Together we are taking steps to broaden and deepen our efforts in this area.
M. Elaine Johnston—Chair, Diversity Committee
