With so few diversity candidates and so many law firms, increasing our diversity requires a firm-wide response. With such a robust effort, it’s no wonder we’re one of the few law firms with a dedicated Manager of Diversity Programs. She’s helping us lead the charge in broadening the scope of how diversity is seen so we can attract the best people to help us make it a reality.

It’s a message we take outside the firm as well. We also send our lawyers back to school to conduct panel discussions and hold presentations at colleges and other venues. Recent programs include a Columbia Law School Black Law Students Association panel discussion entitled “How Did You Position Yourself For That Career”, and “Finding a Voice for Women of Color at Law Firms” held by the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. We’ve also conducted similar programs for the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, the Latin American Law Student Association, OutLaw and La Alianza.

As one of the only law firms on the Steering Committee of the Center for Work-Life Policy, we’re driving initiatives like The Hidden Brain Drain Task Force: Women and Minorities as Unrealized Assets and other efforts to fundamentally shift how employers tap those vast resources.
