Flaviu Nanu is a Romanian qualified lawyer with over 10 years of experience across multiple practice areas, including M&A, private equity, corporate and commercial law, real estate, energy, banking and privatizations.

With an expertise that covers a wide array of legal issues related to the employment and labor legislation, Flaviu coordinates the day-to-day activity of the Bucharest office Employment Law Group.

Prior to joining White & Case, Flaviu worked for leading UK and Austrian law firms.

He has advised, among others, Erste Bank, HSBC, E.ON, CEZ, IBM Corporation, Amazon.com, KazMunaiGaz, Advent, Argo Capital, Provident Financial, Generali PPF Holding, DEGI, ING Real Estate, Bank Austria Creditanstalt, EFG, Moeller Electric, Novartis and Romtelecom.

Energy, Oil and Gas 

• Acting as advisor for the project company EnergoNuclear in connection with the construction of units No. 3 and 4 of Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant 
• Advising a consortium of major European financial institutions in connection with a prospective non-recourse debt financing to develop, construct, commission and operate a brown field gas-fired cogeneration plant to be located in Bucharest, Romania; advice has included drafting legal and regulatory report on investments, market access and operation, environmental including CO₂ emissions and trading scheme 
• Advised a major international joint venture acting in the oil & gas industry sector, in relation to its intended acquisition of the second largest Romanian importer and gas trader 
• Advised PNE Wind, a major renewable energy German investor, on regulatory matters for renewable energy investments in South-eastern Romania (Constanta county); the advice covered various fields as energy regulatory matters, corporate matters, constructions 
• Assisted Energy Rose, an international energy group, on the development of a wind park in Constanta county (Southeastern Romania). Our comprehensive advice included the assistance of the client in relation with the completion of the acquisition of the relevant Romanian entity and of the ownership rights over the land necessary for the development of the wind park, the negotiation and successful conclusion of the wind turbines supply agreement and the operation and maintenance agreement, as a turnkey project with the world leader in wind technology, and the structuring and implementation of the financial arrangements required for the completion of the project 
• Advised Anemo Energy in connection with the negotiation of the share sale and purchase pre-agreement, loan agreement and pledge agreement, in the context of the intended sale of shares by the company's shareholders 
• Advised KazMunaiGaz in relation to the acquisition of the majority stake in the Rompetrol Group 
• Advised E.ON group in the acquisition of Electrica Moldova and restructuring of its business 
• Advised RWE group in relation to its involvement in Nabucco pipeline project 
• Advised CEZ in relation to restructuring of its business in Romania 
• Advised Danish investors in relation to the construction of a wind park in Romania

• Advised Romania Hypermache SA, in relation to the acquisition of several real properties in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, for the purposes of developing a multi-functional development including a hypermarket, a commercial gallery, a DIY store, as well as office building 
• Advised Provera Rom in relation to the acquisition by public auction of several industrial assets located in the administrative centre of Brasov (Centre Romanian)
• Advised Albro Estate in a complex transaction including a three stage acquisition and development of an industrial site in Bucharest 
• Advised a Louis Delhaize group company in connection with acquiring and securing the building right for a retail project in Bacau city (Eastern Romania) 
• Advised DEGI Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Immobilienfonds in relation to the acquisition of a three-office building portfolio in Bucharest 
• Advised Immorent in relation to the joint development of a mixed real estate project in Bucharest together with the Rompetrol Group

• Advised Novartis Pharma Services AG in connection with employment aspects related to the reorganizing of the activity of its Romanian Representative Office 
• Acting for the Romanian representative office of the pharmaceuticals manufacturer Novartis in relation to various employment and data protection issues including the preparation of internal regulation and termination of employment agreements 
• Advising the Romanian insurance company ARDAF in connection with the performance of collective redundancies and the negotiations of the collective bargaining agreement with the labor unions 
• Advised Survey Sampling RO on various labor issues in connection with drafting and negotiating individual labor agreements, preparing internal procedures and the collective bargaining agreement

• Advised ABC Data S.A., the Polish IT products distribution market leader, in connection with the acquisition of 51% shares in Scop Computers SRL, a Romanian privately owned distributor, in a transaction with an estimated value of EUR 5 million, which included as concerns a complex due diligence investigation on all aspects related to the corporate standing and the business activity of the target 
• Advised Amazon.com regarding the setting up of its Romanian subsidiary and outsourcing of certain business activities to Romania 
• Advised Telefonica Spain in relation to the establishing of its Romanian branch, including as concerns regulatory aspects 
• Advised Romtelecom S.A. on general corporate matters and public procurement

• Advised the most important German railway operator in acquiring the largest Romanian private transporter and commissioner.
