Frederik Thiering is active in the field of intellectual property law. He concentrates his practice on trademark law, particularly on advising and representing clients in trademark litigation before the courts. Furthermore, he advises and represents clients also in connection with the introduction and protection of new trademarks, contract negotiations, national and international trademark management and in prosecution matters before the patent and trademark offices.

Besides, Frederik Thiering is also constantly active in unfair competition law, for example in matters regarding passing off or misleading advertising.

Frederik Thiering is lecturer at the University of Technology Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH). He constantly reports in the German IP magazines GRUR and GRUR-RR about the trademark related case law of the European Court of Justice and the German Federal Supreme Court (together with Christian Rohnke) as well as of the German courts of instance.

For his doctoral thesis in trademark law, Frederik Thiering has been recently awarded with the Faculty Award 2010 of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich.
