Jonathan C. Hamilton (Washington, DC) served as a working group member of a new report released by the Trade Advisory Group of the Council of the Americas/Americas Society entitled "Building the Hemispheric Growth Agenda: A New Framework for Policy."

White & Case sponsored the Americas Workshop entitled "Damages in International Arbitration: Strategies, Techniques and Presentation" held in Mexico City on April 1-2, 2009 by the Institute for Transnational Arbitration and Comisión de Mediación y Arbitraje de la Cámara Nacional de Comercio de la Ciudad de México.

On December 6, The Bar Association of the District of Columbia, founded in 1871, named Carolyn Lamm (Washington, DC) their 2008 Lawyer of the Year at their annual banquet.

Practitioner Appointments 

Paul Friedland (New York) was named Chair of an International Bar Association ("IBA") task force responsible for developing guidelines for drafting arbitration agreements. Paul also serves on an IBA subcommittee developing a new set of IBA rules for "Taking of Evidence in International Arbitration."

Anders Reldén (Stockholm) has been appointed Chairman of the Arbitration Association for Young Lawyers at the SCC Institute ("SYJ"). SYJ brings together Swedish lawyers under the age of 45 who work in arbitration and commercial litigation and aims to increase the younger lawyers' knowledge of and interest in Swedish and international arbitration.
