India-UK Business Leaders' Forum 2006

London: White & Case's India Practice Group sponsored the India-UK Business Leaders' Forum 2006.

India's Minister of Commerce & Industry, Kamal Nath, gave a keynote address at the conference, which was held under the auspices of the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Commonwealth Business Council, and with the support of the UK Department of Trade and Industry.

Other speakers included Lord Sainsbury, Secretary of State for Science and Innovation and Kapil Sibal, India's Minister of Science and Technology.

Doug Peel, Nipun Gupta, David Eisenberg (London), Nandan Nelivigi, Villiers Terblanche (New York) and Victoria Westcott (Paris) gave short presentations on India's $50 billion highway development program; ambitious plans to privatize and develop India's major airports; and the recently announced "ultra-/mega- power projects" involving up to seven new generation facilities of 4,000 MW each.

Also, at a special-invitation event at the White & Case London office, Philip Stopford and David Baker spoke about oil and gas; Tim Jeveons and Allan Taylor discusses AIM listings for Indian companies; and David Barwise chaired the securitization session.
