Practice Experience
Ian Reynolds is a member of the Brussels antitrust practice. He focuses on European and UK antitrust law.

Ian's practice involves advising multinational and other clients on EU, UK and international merger control, on international cartel investigations throughout the process and on the applicability of Articles 101 and 102 TFEU to various types of agreements and practices.

Ian previously worked for a large international law firm in Brussels and the Competition Directorate-General of the European Commission prior to arriving at White & Case. Recent practical experience includes:
  • Acting for international companies in connection with European Commission and other competition agencies’ cartel investigations into the chemicals, electronics and bathroom fittings and fixtures sectors (including considering the potential impact of follow-on damages actions);
  • Acting for international clients in market sectors including recruitment, banking, chemicals and petrochemicals, basic industries, energy, and telecommunications in assessing the reportability of proposed transactions, the preparation of transaction documents and, if necessary, preparing notifications to applicable international competition agencies;
  • Acting for petrochemical and specialty chemical producers in assessing the competition law risks under Article 101 TFEU related to horizontal cooperation agreements and vertical relationships; and
  • Acting for a large international company in the construction sector in analyzing the compatibility of its discount and rebate structures with Article 102 TFEU.

Ian has published several articles and been involved in certain key works on both EU merger practice and the application of Article 102 TFEU.
