Practice Experience
Mr. Chung is a member of White & Case's Global Competition and Commercial Litigation Groups. He has wide-ranging experience in civil and criminal antitrust matters, complex litigation, bankruptcy matters, white-collar and corporate investigations and international arbitrations.
Mr. Chung's recent matters include:
- Representing Toshiba Corporation in civil and criminal antitrust proceedings relating to the liquid crystal display (LCD) market.
- Representing a multi-national pharmaceutical company in Robinson-Patman actions brought by thousands of opt-out plaintiffs in the Eastern District of New York and prior representation of the company in Sherman Act cases brought by the same plaintiffs.
- Represented a leading satellite manufacturer in an ICC arbitration, governed by Japanese law, concerning the interpretation of a satellite communications contract.
- Represented global financial institutions and creditors in major bankruptcy proceedings, including the Enron Commercial Paper adversary proceeding and the Adelphia Communications Corporation bankruptcy proceeding.
- Represented a major Swedish bank in an investigation by the Federal Reserve Bank and the FBI into CD trading practices.
- Conducted several internal investigations on behalf of global financial institutions and corporations relating to mutual fund market timing activity, potential violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and potential violations of U.S. and foreign antitrust laws.
Prior to joining White & Case, Mr. Chung worked as a law clerk to the Honorable Julio M. Fuentes of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and as a law clerk to the Honorable Victor Marrero of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Chung was a trial attorney in the Attorney General's Honors Program, United States Department of Justice, Antitrust Division, where he worked on merger and collusion investigations in the computer and finance industries. While at the Antitrust Division, Mr. Chung worked on an investigation into the U.S. options exchanges and the Microsoft case. Mr. Chung was also a Fulbright Scholar at the Korea University School of Law, researching South Korea's antimonopoly law, international antitrust developments and international commercial transactions.
