Practice Experience
Jason Kerr is a partner in the Energy, Infrastructure, Project and Asset Finance Group in London. He has substantial experience advising lenders, multilateral lending agencies, export credit agencies, sponsors and developers in project financings, asset financings and international banking.
Jason’s practice has primarily focused on project, receivables and trade-related financings in the emerging markets of Central Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. He has been involved in a wide range of projects in various sectors including oil and gas, power and water and agribusiness.
Jason spent two years in Asia, including a six-month secondment as principal in-house counsel to the KAFCO urea ammonia project in Bangladesh.
Representative transactions include:
Representation, as common counsel, of the export credit agencies, multi-lateral lenders and commercial bank lenders in connection with the US$20 billion project financing of the Sakhalin II (Phase 2) LNG Project in Russia;
Representing ABN AMRO Bank N.V. and Citigroup as Mandated Lead Arrangers on the US$765 million crude pre-export financing facility for OAO Lukoil (awarded EMEA Loan of the Year by IFR for 2003);
Representing the Siemens/STEAG consortium in connection with the project financing (including ECA and IFI covered tranches) on a BO basis of a US$1.45 billion 1210 MW imported coal-fired power plant in Iskenderun, Southern Turkey;
Representing the Arrangers and the ECAs in the US$969 million project financing (including ECA covered tranches) of a urea ammonia fertiliser plant in the Sultanate of Oman;
Representing the Arrangers in the US$1.2 billion bridge financing and US$3 billion medium term secured financing for Gazprom;
Representing the international and Nigerian Arrangers in the US$1.06 billion project financing (including ECA and IFI covered tranches) of the fourth and fifth trains of NLNG’s gas liquefaction complex in Nigeria;
Representing the Arrangers in the project financing (including ECA covered tranches) of the upstream portion of an LNG facility in Qatar;
Representing the Arrangers in the project financing of a petrochemical plant in Saudi Arabia;
Representing Shell Capital in a limited recourse financing for the development and operation of an oil field in Kazakhstan;
Representing EBRD in the US$150,000,000 secured medium term financing for LUKOIL secured against oil export receivables;
Independent adviser to Credit Lyonnaise in the US$500,000,000 medium term financing for Yukos secured against oil export receivables;
Representing EBRD in its portage equity funding of a brewery project in the Russian Federation;
Representing EBRD in its portage equity funding of a paper project in Poland;
Representing the Arrangers in the EUR300,000,000 medium term secured financing for Gazprom;
Representing the Arrangers in the US$450,000,000 medium term secured financing for Gazprom;
Representing IFC in the debt and equity financing of an Indian corporation's various ship acquisitions;
Representing the developers in the project financing of a urea-ammonia fertiliser project in Bangladesh; and
Structuring and coordinating EBRD’s trade facilitation programme in Central Europe.
