Practice Experience
Jonathan Mastrangelo is counsel in the Corporate Defense and Special Litigation Practice Group at White & Case LLP. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Mastrangelo served as an Assistant US Attorney for the District of Maryland. Mr. Mastrangelo's practice focuses on white collar criminal defense, government investigations and commercial litigation. Mr. Mastrangelo represents US and foreign conglomerates facing US Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission investigations for possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
During his tenure with the US Attorney's Office, Mr. Mastrangelo directed criminal investigations concerning a wide range of unlawful conduct, including theft of government property, embezzlement, bribery, money laundering, tax evasion, drug trafficking, violent crimes, material support of terrorism, and mail, wire and bank fraud. Mr. Mastrangelo was responsible for handling court proceedings during all phases of litigation, including pre-trial hearings, trials and appeals. Mr. Mastrangelo tried 12 jury trials, conducted dozens of grand jury investigations, and briefed and argued several appeals before US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Prior to joining the US Attorney's Office, Mr. Mastrangelo worked for five years at a Washington, DC-based law firm handling a variety of civil litigation matters, including contract and employment disputes, civil rights and constitutional torts, and lawsuits challenging actions taken by federal agencies. Mr. Mastrangelo has extensive experience litigating civil disputes before federal and state trial courts. He also has experience handling matters that have been resolved through binding arbitration and mediation.
