Practice Experience
Mr. Rico is head of the White & Case Mexico disputes practice. He has served as counsel in several international and domestic arbitrations, including under the arbitration rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Mexican Chamber of Commerce (CANACO).
Mr. Rico has broad administrative litigation experience across the construction, energy, financial, health, infrastructure, transportation, oil and gas, steel, telecommunications and transportation sectors. He frequently provides strategic advice to clients on matters of civil, commercial and administrative litigation before state and federal courts.
Mr. Rico also has an extensive corporate background, having advised clients in connection with mergers and acquisitions, and with regard to finance, antitrust and securities-related matters.
Mr. Rico’s current corporate practice focuses on representing Mexican and foreign financial institutions in the structuring and implementation of financing transactions, development of new products and regulatory compliance. He also represents financial institutions and issuers in capital and debt market transactions and structured finance deals.
Prior to joining White & Case, Juan Pablo Rico worked as an associate for a prestigious Mexican law firm and as a foreign associate in Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton (New York).
Mr. Rico also previously worked for the Mexican National Banking and Securities Commission.
