Practice Experience

Jeffrey Schmitt has experience in all aspects of bankruptcy law, including the representation of debtors, committees of creditors, trustees and lenders in chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, as well as in non-bankruptcy restructurings. He also has significant experience in the area of creditors' rights, representing secured and unsecured creditors in loan workouts, financings, contract disputes and related proceedings. His recent experience includes representing the DCHC Liquidating Trust in the Greater Southeast Community Hospital Corporation I chapter 11 case in Washington, DC and as part of the team that is representing the debtor in the Mirant chapter 11 cases, pending in Forth Worth, Texas, one of the largest restructurings ever filed in the United States.
