Practice Experience
John Wells is an associate in the Firm’s Corporate Defense and Special Litigation Group. His practice focuses on the representation of international and US clients in matters involving Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, and grand jury investigations, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act matters, and complex civil litigation. Mr. Wells also represents individuals involved in grand jury and government investigations. His significant recent experience includes:
Representing a major bank and state-owned foreign defeasance entity in complex civil litigation and criminal proceedings in federal court;
Serving as the lead associate representing a government official in connection with a federal grand jury investigation involving issues of national security;
Representing the board of directors of a Fortune 50 company by investigating and evaluating allegations of accounting fraud in response to a shareholder derivative demand;
Representing a major financial firm in a class action securities fraud litigation in federal court; and
Representing a major charitable organization in a successful effort to quash a subpoena on First Amendment and other grounds.
Prior to joining White & Case LLP, Mr. Wells served as a law clerk for two years to the Honorable Karen J. Williams of the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
