Kao-Yu Hsu is an associate in White & Case's Silicon Valley office and a member of the Firm's Intellectual Property Practice. His practice focuses on intellectual property litigation before district courts as well as the US International Trade Commission. Kao-Yu's work experience encompasses various industry sectors including semiconductors, computer software and hardware, and wireless communication.

While in law school, Kao-Yu served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Joan Zeldon of Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

Prior to law school, Kao-Yu was an IP manager and a patent technical consultant at a multinational LCD company and at a top semiconductor manufacturing companies, where he was responsible for handling patent litigation, patent licensing, and patent procurement.

Kao-Yu's representative litigation matters include:

• In the Matter of Certain Digital Televisions and Components Thereof (ITC) – Represent MStar Semiconductor in 337 investigation involving digital signal coding/encoding; 
• Interwoven, Inc. v. Vertical Computer Systems (N.D. Cal. 2010) – Represent Interwoven in a patent case involving web publishing; 
• Industry Access Inc. v. CoreLogic Inc. et al. (C.D. Cal. 2011) – Represent Ellie Mae in a patent case involving software for real estate transactions; 
• In the Matter of Handheld Electronic Computing Devices, Related Software, and Components Thereof (ITC) – Represented Inventec Corporation in 337 investigation involving software used in handheld devices; 
• In the Matter of Certain Integrated Circuits, Chipsets, and Products Containing Same including Televisions, Media Players, and Cameras (ITC) – Represented Panasonic in 337 investigation involving electronic circuit design and semiconductor packaging.
