Practice Experience
Mr. Van Blerkom is a partner in the firm's Sourcing and Technology Transactions Group and is based in Washington, DC. His practice focuses on advising large corporations, financial institutions and public entities in North America, Europe and Asia on complex and strategic sourcing and technology related transactions. He represents clients in structuring, negotiating and implementing information technology, network management and business process outsourcing transactions. He also has considerable experience related to major procurement initiatives and the development of innovative co-marketing arrangements, joint ventures and strategic alliances.

Mr. Van Blerkom is a recognized expert in the fields of sourcing and complex procurement. He is listed in Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers, Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business, Legal500, PLC and Who's Who Legal. He has acted for numerous Fortune 100 corporations in major sourcing transactions, including several that are recognized within the industry as "landmark" deals. In addition, he was the lead advisor for a major client on a business process transaction that was recently named the winner of the Outsourcing Center's 2011 award for "most flexible" deal.

Significant experience includes:
  • Advising major financial institution on strategic sourcing initiative related to the establishment of a "virtual bank."
  • Advising one of the largest privately held entities in the world on a series of procurement initiatives, involving first in kind robotics.
  • Advising on one of the largest telecommunications sector ITO's completed in 2009.
  • Advising global financial institution on a sourcing strategy assessment and an on-going series of sourcing initiatives to reposition it to grow and compete in emerging Asian economies.
  • Advising major governmental entity in Southern Hemisphere on procurement transformation of department of defense.
  • Advising one of Europe's largest companies on a recently completed multi-jurisdiction business process outsourcing.
  • Representing Fortune 10 conglomerate in connection with the sale of outsourcing businesses in multiple jurisdictions and related large-scale sourcing transactions.
  • Developing innovative global pricing structures in largest global managed network services transaction involving the dissolution of a joint venture and related corporate matters.
  • Representing major North American service provider in a landmark strategic alliance involving complex "go to market" arrangements and a series of procurement transactions.
