Practice Experience
Michael is an associate in the Firm's Banking and Capital Markets Group in London. He has advised on a wide range of debt and equity capital market products acting primarily for underwriters on Reg S and Rule 144A offerings for entities in the emerging markets of Central and Eastern Europe.
Michael joined White & Case in September 2003 from a leading international law firm.
Most recently, Michael has advised on the groundbreaking restructuring of US$16 billion of BTA Bank JSC's financial indebtedness, and, prior to that, the largest corporate bond in history acting for the underwriters on the innovative US$3 billion financing for Kazmunaigas.
Other examples of recent notable transactions which Michael has been involved in include:
- Acting for Turkish bank, Yapi Kredi Bankasi A.S. on its issue of US$750 million Loan Participation Notes;
- Acting for Credit Suisse as sole lead managers on JSC Transneft's issue of US$600 million Loan Participation Notes due 2013 and US$1,050 million Loan Participation Notes due 2018;
- Acting for the dealer managers in connection with a tender offer and consent solicitation by Ukrainian company, Interpipe Limited;
- Acting for Diamond Circle Capital plc in relation to its floatation on the London Stock Exchange;
- Acting for TNK–BP as issuer and guarantor on its US$1.5 billion Eurobond financing;
- Acting for Deutsche Bank as lead manager on Indian pharmaceutical company, Marksans Pharma's US$50 million issue of convertible bonds; and
- Acting for Ukrainian bank, Ukreximbank on its US$250 million Loan Participation Notes issue, the first Loan Participation Notes issue to be listed on the SWX Swiss Exchange.
