Practice Experience
Mrs. Donovan represents financial institutions—including banks, broker-dealers, insurance companies, investment advisors and ERISA funds—in connection with the interaction of tax, fiduciary, securities and other regulatory issues involved in the structure, operation and maintenance of investment funds and financial products targeted for institutional or individual customers of the institution and, increasingly, its affiliates.
These entities seek to apply fiduciary standards to protect the recipients of their services, and, through the avoidance of liability, to protect the provider. She has presented "The Exploding Fiduciary: Can Integrated Financial Institutions Really Manage Fiduciary Risk?," with her partner, Owen Pell, to the Staff, US Securities and Exchange Commission in a workshop sponsored by its Office of Risk Assessment and Leadership & Knowledge Management Branch and several other institutions, as well as speaking at professional groups including the International Association of Financial Engineers.
In addition to her extensive practice experience, Mrs. Donovan served White & Case in a leadership role for eight years as the Firm's Administrative Partner.
She is Vice Chair and Chair of the Finance Committee of St. Barnabas Hospital, the Bronx, and a member of the Board of Deutsche Bank Microfinance Development Fund. She also served on the boards of UBS Trust Company and the New York Urban Coalition.
