Practice Experience
Miriam Galandová joined White & Case in 2003 after a six-year stint in Andersen’s Bratislava office.  Her dual tax and legal qualifications position her perfectly to provide seamless advisory services in deals requiring both tax and legal analyses.

Working for both local and multinational corporate clients has provided her with experience in all areas of corporate and international taxation, and tax structuring for major Slovak corporate groups.  She has participated in projects involving transfer pricing, structuring assistance for international investment and due diligence for potential foreign investors, while also assisting clients in the tax litigation process.

Real Estate and Foreign Direct Investment

Ms. Galandová has advised on numerous real estate transactions carried out in Slovakia by real estate funds established by Česká spořitelna, ING Bank, Heitman, GTC, D.B. Zwirn, Quinlan and companies within the GE Capital Group in connection with the MAX center acquisition.  She worked on the project team that focused on obtaining state assistance for foreign investors, including negotiations with state authorities in this respect.  She has advised Johnson Controls and PSA Peugeot Citroën in connection with their greenfield investments in the Slovak Republic and Patron Capital Limited, the London-based investment company, in connection with its acquisition of the Radisson SAS Carlton Hotel Bratislava from Tractabel.  She is currently assisting the Dorchester Group on tax related matters in connection with real estate acquisition in Slovakia and tax structuring, including tax audit assistance.

Mergers & Acquisitions, Privatization

Miriam has gained extensive experience with merger and acquisition transactions while participating in several acquisition and due diligence investigations and group reorganization projects, involving the identification of beneficial tax structures and potential tax risks for AGFA, Verizon Communications in connection with the sale of its Slovak subsidiaries and in the reorganization of the Slovak corporate groups for Zentiva, AHOLD, CSOB and Doprastav.
