Practice Experience
Matthew S. Leddicotte represents domestic and foreign clients in complex civil litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. A significant part of his practice focuses on issues of international law and federal government regulation, including trade regulation and antitrust matters. He also has experience representing clients in international dispute resolution through arbitration, including proceedings before the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
Significant recent experience includes:
- Counsel in successful defense of major Saudi bank alleged to have financially supported terrorism. Won pre-trial dismissal of consolidated multidistrict actions claiming over US$1 billion;
- Counsel to the Republic of the Philippines in two arbitrations—one before the ICC and one before ICSID—arising out of disputes relating to the airport in Manila;
- Counsel to parcel tanker corporation in antitrust appellate litigation relating to criminal investigation instituted by the Department of Justice (DOJ);
- Counsel to a Committee of the Board of Directors of a publicly traded company in connection with a shareholder derivative demand arising out of complex accounting and revenue recognition issues;
- Counsel to the Republic of Indonesia and its agencies and affiliates at the appellate level in an action involving fraudulent banking and securities transactions; and
- Counsel to a subsidiary of a European company involved in arbitration under the auspices of the American Arbitration Association (AAA).
