Maya specializes in bank finance and in mergers and acquisitions in the financial sector. With White & Case Moscow since 1993, she has in-depth experience in international transactions related to the Russian Federation. Maya is ranked among the top banking and finance lawyers in Russia by Chambers Global and PLC Which Lawyer? Although Maya concentrates on financial and capital markets institutions, she has also advised on numerous M&A transactions involving non-financial Russian assets, particularly in the real estate, telecoms and natural resources sectors.
Maya's experience includes:
- Advising Troika Dialog, an investment bank and brokerage, in its sale to Sberbank, Russia’s largest bank;
- Advising Industrial Union of Donbass, a diversified metals group with assets in the Ukraine, Poland and Hungary, in the restructuring of the group’s debt;
- Advising Promsvyazbank, a large Russian privately owned bank, in a US$350 million loan from a syndicate of banks led by WestLB and Bank of America Securities Limited;
- Representing VTB Capital in its investments into the White Square and White Garden office developments in Moscow;
- Advising the sellers in a US$745 sale of ZAO Synterra, a cable networks company, to MegaFon, one of Russia’s largest mobile phone operators;
- Advising Capital Partners in the acquisition and financing of various office, hotel and warehouse assets in the Russia, including Moscow's Ritz Carlton Hotel and the Metropolis retail and office complex;
- Advising The U.S. Russia Investment Fund and its managing company, Delta Private Equity Partners, on the sale of DeltaLeasing, a Russian commercial finance company, to Siemens;
- Representing Societe Generale in a record-setting US$2.3 billion, multi-stage acquisition of Rosbank, Russia's top private consumer bank, from the Interros Group;
- Advising the developer of the Moskva Hotel, a historic building near Red Square and the Kremlin, on hotel operating agreements with the Four Seasons, an US$800 million financing of the building's redevelopment by Deutsche Bank, and the restructuring of that financing;
- Representing Duferco in the $530 million sale of its stake in a Russian electromagnetic steel producer to Novolipetsk Steel; and
- Representing the EBRD and IFC in numerous debt and equity investments in the Russian banking, infrastructure, natural resources and manufacturing sectors.
