White & Case Celebrates 25 Years in Miami
Miami,
November 8, 2012 ... Global law firm White & Case LLP will celebrate its first 25 years in Miami by hosting a reception for clients and friends on November 13th.
Since opening an office in Miami in 1987 with six attorneys, the Firm has grown to 85 attorneys who help clients in Florida and throughout the world navigate complex domestic and cross-border matters relating to banking, financial restructuring and insolvency, capital markets, project and equipment finance, dispute resolution, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate.
The Miami office has been instrumental in the development of the Firm's Latin America practice, including the establishment of White & Case's Mexico City and São Paulo offices. Its lawyers are consistently recognized as pioneers in the region, leading developments in cross-border legal issues throughout Latin America, including the privatization of key industries, the development of important infrastructure projects and the evolution and integration of regional and global capital markets activities. The Firm's Johannesburg office was also established by a Miami lawyer, along with the development of several of the Firm's Asia offices.
Lawyers of the Miami office have been and are currently leaders of some of the Firm's most important global and national practices, including financial restructuring and insolvency, environmental law, consumer class action defense, and appellate litigation.
"In the past 25 years, we have increased the number of local and international businesses that we service, diversified the scope of our offerings and significantly expanded our international reach," said White & Case Miami Office Executive Partner Chris Hansen. "As a result, we have been able to help our clients be successful in the markets they serve by understanding and anticipating their needs."
The Miami office has helped launch the careers of hundreds of lawyers, as a result of its associate hiring, clerkship and training programs. In the past 25 years, the office has been recognized for its commitment to pro bono work for individuals and institutions, and many of its attorneys have held leadership positions in nonprofit institutions, such as United Way of Miami-Dade, Miami Science Museum, Foster Care Review and Florida's Children's First, to name a few.
"The Firm's commitment to pro bono work and significant community involvement was very appealing to me," said White & Case partner and former Florida Supreme Court Justice Raoul Cantero, who joined the Firm in 2008.
