Oil & Gas Legal Advisor of the Year 2007
White & Case has been named Oil & Gas Legal Advisor of the Year 2007 by Infrastructure Journal following the Firm’s advisory role on nine deals in 2007 valued at a total of US$14.7 billion.

Infrastructure Journal commented that:

"White & Case is noted for its balanced representation of both sponsors and lenders in its project finance portfolio and involvement in many of the high-profile traditional oil and gas deals across the globe, including the Nord Stream pipeline, Damietta, Qatargas 4, Sakhalin LNG, Pluto LNG and Tangguh LNG."

This awards reflects a banner year for the Firm in the petrochemical sector, highlights of which included advising:
  • Saudi Aramco in connection with the US$4 billion funding to Fujian Refining Petrochemical Company, who are set to establish the biggest refining and chemicals facility in China
  • JBIC and the commercial lenders on the US$360 million financing for the construction of a methanol facility at the Sungai Liang Industrial Park in Brunei, the first international project financing in Brunei
  • Project sponsors Qatar Petroleum and Shell in relation to the US$4 billion financing of the mega Qatargas 4 LNG project. The Qatargas projects are the largest ever series of LNG project financings to be brought to market with a combined value of $30 billion

Transport Deal of the Year 2007
In addition, a matter in which White & Case played a key role was named Transport Deal of the Year 2007 by Infrastructure Journal. Mexico's US$4.3 billion syndication of the first of the FARAC roads packages won in recognition of the financial complexity of the deal.

On this project, White and & Case represented Goldman Sachs and Ingenieros Civiles Asociados as sponsors in the financing of a 30 year toll roads concession from the Ministry of Communications and Transport in Mexico. The concessionaire won the rights to operate and maintain over 550 kilometers of toll roads in the states of Michoacan, Jalisco, Guanajuato and Aguascalientes.

This was the largest infrastructure project to close in the Americas in 2007 and the largest ever private peso financing in Mexico. Tomer Pinkusiewicz (New York), Ned Neaher (Washington DC) and Vicente Corta (Mexico City) were the lead White & Case partners.
