Carrie LeRoy Joins White & Case as a Partner

Global law firm White & Case LLP announced today that Carrie LeRoy will join the Firm's Global Intellectual Property (IP) Practice as a partner in its Silicon Valley office. LeRoy will work closely with the Firm's Global Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Practice and will advise clients on technology transactional and IP matters.

"We are seeing continued, increasing demand by global technology companies for counsel who have experience handling technology transactional and IP issues, whether they are standalone matters or in support of a large M&A deal," says Aalok Sharma, co-leader of White & Case's Global Technology practice. "Carrie has significant experience handling specific transactional needs of international technology companies and her addition continues our efforts to meet client demand in this area."

The addition of LeRoy supports the Firm's strategy of vigorously growing its IP and tech-focused transactional practice. LeRoy joins White & Case from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom's Palo Alto office, where she was the lead IP attorney on many notable transactions for some of the world's most well-known tech companies.

LeRoy has advised clients on a variety of complex US and cross-border technology transactions involving the purchase, licensing and divestiture of IP assets, including M&A deals, university licensing agreements, biotechnology collaborations and multimedia content distribution.

She also advises clients on the protection and monetization of IP assets and on open source, data privacy, patent law, trade secrets and copyright and trademark protection matters.

LeRoy has developed and led an innovative and award-winning pro bono program to teach local youth about the law as it relates to social media and has trained more than 70 volunteer attorneys to teach the foregoing program. Prior to joining private practice, she was the lead IP transactional counsel for a major semiconductor company.

"Carrie is an outstanding IP lawyer with exceptional experience advising significant companies as a lead IP attorney on their most important and complex transactions," said Bijal Vakil, a partner in White & Case's IP Practice and Executive Partner of its Silicon Valley office. "She will play an important role in the continued expansion of our Silicon Valley Technology practice."
