Peru Wins ICSID Contract Claim

As reported in Latin Lawyer and Global Arbitration Review, an international arbitration tribunal ruled unanimously in favor of the Republic of Peru in a $150 million energy dispute arising under a legal stability agreement before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in Washington, DC. Jonathan Hamilton, a partner in the International Arbitration Practice at White & Case in Washington, DC, who led the team representing Peru, says: "The award makes an important contribution to the understanding of stability agreements as a tool for the promotion and protection of foreign investment."
