White & Case's World Tour
May 2007, The American Lawyer: The AmLaw 100

The American Lawyer's 2007 listing of the top 100 law firms in the United States singled out White & Case for its global presence and overall outstanding performance. As one of a small handful of AmLaw 100 firms to be so featured, the article highlighted the Firm's revenue increase, 13 percent, to approximately $1.2 billion worldwide, and the 21 percent profits per partner increase, an accomplishment in any market.

"All regions had a really good year," said White & Case Managing Partner Duane Wall, who referenced successes in London, Germany and Asia.

"In London, we saw an increase of 67 percent in profits per partner," said Peter Finlay, the senior partner in London. The London office has increased to 315 lawyers from 67 lawyers in 1999, and Finlay expect it will add another 40 to 50 lawyers this year.

The article goes on to quote Markus Hauptmann, executive partner in White & Case's Frankfurt office, who says the growing German finance practice is the reason for their success. "The Firm received mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and real estate work from its banking clients and picked up new corporate clients, including Germany's largest retail company."

Executive partner Kenneth Ellis, who heads White & Case's Hong Kong office, discussed the Firm's successes in Asia. He said White & Case advised on and facilitated the move to Singapore of the initial public offering of Thai Beverage Public Company Limited, after anti-alcohol protests stalled the offering in Bangkok. It also did new work for China Development Bank, on telecom projects throughout the world. In the active Asian market, the Firm’s presence can only continue to grow in the next few years.
