Intergum Sold to Cadbury Schweppes for $450 Million
Turkish Market Continues to be Hot Bed of Activity

London / Istanbul,  June 18, 2007 ... White & Case acted for Intergum, the largest manufacturer of chewing gum in Turkey, in its sale to confectionary giant Cadbury Schweppes for $450 million. Intergum, which is owned by the Amram family, employs approximately 1,200 people and has an estimated 46 percent share of the Turkish chewing gum market, which itself grew by 17 percent last year.

"Turkey has been a red hot market for some time. We're seeing a lot of activity in a broad variety of areas; not just M&A and acquisition finance, but also real estate, capital markets and general finance work," commented White & Case partner Peter Finlay, co-head of the Firm's Corporate practice in London. "The impact of previous structural reforms and changes to fiscal and monetary policy is now being felt, and the outlook for the Turkish economy looks to be one of sustainable growth."
