White & Case: "Demand for Our Services in Romania Continues to be High”

The business of the Romanian office of the international law firm White & Case was not affected by the crisis that struck the financial markets all over the world. "Demand for our services in Romania continues to be high, both from local clients, and from international ones.  In Romania we focus on M&A, real estate, project financing and other commercial activities.  Depending on opportunities, we can also supply counseling services in connection with financing activities of the central and local authorities.  During the past months we worked intensely on real estate, real estate financing and refinancing.  We also had transactions in the finance-banking area, and had some involvement in litigation," explained Delia Pachiu, a partner in the White & Case Bucharest office.

"The global markets are extremely volatile at this time, so the demand might drop for some areas, but raise in other ones.  For instance, we might see a marked increase in the amount of restructuring and insolvency deals," said Pachiu.  "The current changes in the global market may affect the type of law services requested by our clients, but not the level of the overall demand."
