Liquidation Land
November 7, 2008, The Deal/Daily Deal

Thomas Lauria, a partner at White & Case in Miami and head of the Firm's Global Financial Restructuring Group, was quoted on the changing nature of bankruptcy law in the US.  At the time of the article, Lauria had 17 active cases and with 791 cases worldwide, the Firm was ranked as first in the world for bankruptcy.

"Many major countries in the world have started to amend their insolvency laws and tried to create an environment that fosters rehabilitation rather than liquidation," said Thomas Lauria.  "Right now, the U.S. seems to be six months ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to insolvency," Lauria says.  "Credit is tightening globally, and seemingly solid foreign companies are starting to find it difficult to obtain financing."
