New York City is more than White & Case’s headquarters; it is our point of origin, where our founders created the impetus that has built one of the world’s most dynamic and distinguished law firms.
Our firm was founded in this city in 1901 by two young lawyers, who in the following years formed Bankers Trust Company. White & Case grew to represent the nation’s leading banks and advise the emerging business titans of the twentieth century. As U.S. business has diversified and globalized, so has the experience and legacy of the New York City office. We are now among a select group of law firms that are able to handle extremely complex, precedent-setting legal matters.
Today, our more than 400 lawyers in New York serve client needs across the entire spectrum of the legal profession, delivering their expertise throughout the globe and across virtually every practice area. Clients benefit from our deep experience in several key practice areas, which coordinate multi-jurisdictional matters with our lawyers around the globe. We provide outstanding counsel in such areas as banking and financial services, mergers and acquisitions, equipment and facility finance, legislative reform, privatization, project finance, securities, and sovereign law. We handle antitrust, arbitration, bankruptcy, commercial litigation, environmental law, intellectual property, international trade, and labor and employment law. We also deliver global tax support in such areas as controversy, planning, and legislation and provide private clients with superior advice on preserving and transferring personal wealth.
New York also is where we forge new strategies, shape our approaches to emerging global legal issues, and build systems and processes that strengthen our culture of performance, fairness, and integrity.
As part of an integrated team of legal professionals that spans 27 countries, we bring global breadth and local depth to bear on our clients’ most exciting opportunities and difficult challenges.
