Practice Experience
Nneka is an associate in our Project Finance Group in Abu Dhabi who is experienced in Finance, Oil & Gas and Power transactions across the globe, including in the Middle East.

Representative transactions include: 
  • Advised Barclays Corporate and The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc in relation to the £370 million financing of the Wolverhampton City Council Building Schools for the Future Programme (BSF) PFI project; 
  • Assisted in advising inspiredspaces (a company owned by Carillion) on the £300 million Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council Building Schools for the Future Programme (BSF) PFI project; 
  • Assisting in the representation of the lender syndicate (comprising both Saudi and international commercial banks including the KEIC) in connection with the US $2.2 billion (approx.) financing of an independent power plant in Rabigh, Saudi Arabia; 
  • Advised the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) in relation to the development and financing (US $2.7 billion) of the Shuweihat 2 independent water and power plant in Abu Dhabi; 
  • Advised the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) in connection with the development and financing of the Taweelah B independent water and power plant; 
  • Advised the sponsors (Qatar Petroleum) and project company in connection with the financing of an aluminium smelter and power plant at Mesaiseed Industrial City Qatar; 
  • Advised the project company (SEGAS) on the US $1.02 billion refinancing of Damietta LNG Plant and related storage facilities; 
  • Advised the lenders in connection with the US$670 million financing for the expansion and development of a petrochemical plants in Port Said, Egypt; 
  • Advised the project company (Nord Stream) and the project sponsors in connection with the financing of Phase I of the Nord Stream pipeline system in the Baltic sea between Portovaya bay in Russia and Lubmin, Germany; 
  • Currently advising Nord Stream in connection with the financing of Phase II of the Nord Stream pipeline system in the Baltic sea between Portovaya bay in Russia and Lubmin, Germany; 
  • Currently advising lenders in connection with the financing of a fuel terminal in Lagos, Nigeria; 
  • Advised Eskom in connection with ECA financing of the Medupi and Kusile power plants in South Africa; 
  • Advised on an aborted acquisition/pre-export financing transaction in relation to an oil block in Equatorial Guinea. The transaction was at it final stages before it was aborted; 
  • Advised the sponsors (Orascom Construction Industries) in connection with the US $319 million financing of White & Grey Cement Plants in Algeria; 
  • Advised the project sponsors (Orascm Construction Industries) on project and equity financing in relation to the development of a cement factory in the Bazian area of Northern Iraq; 
  • Acted for HSH Nordbank as lender in relation to financing of certain property development projects in Russia; 
  • Advising the Orascom Telecom Holding SAE in connection with a telecoms financing in Bangladesh (including a bond issuance); 
  • Assisted in advising the project sponsors on the US$340 million project financing of the Cerro Corona Mine in Peru; 
  • Acting for the project company (United Cement Company of Nigeria) and providing advice in connection with all aspects of the US$320 million financing of a cement plant in Calabar, Nigeria; 
  • Acted for the sponsors (WEMPCO) in connection with the financing of a rolled steel plant in Nigeria; 
  • Assisted in advising on the debt push down and restructuring of Angel Trains International Limited following its acquisition by Willow Lux Bidco; 
  • Assisted in advising the UK Export Credit Guarantee Department and the German Reconstruction Credit Institute (KfW) in connection with restructuring and refinancing transactions with respect to the San Pedro de Macorís Power Plant in the Dominican Republic; 
  • Assisting in advising the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on project financing for the development of Kashirka Mall in Moscow; 
  • Assisted in advising on the restructuring and debt-push down transaction in relation to certain US affiliates of Permobil AB, pursuant to its acquisition by Cidron Finance AB; 
  • Assisted in advising on the acquisition by Communications Supply Corporation of the assets of Calvert Wire & Cable Corporation; 
  • Assisted in advising on the acquisition of Liberty Cable & Wire by Communications Supply Corporation; 
  • Assisted in advising Pitney Bowes on the sale of its Imagistics lease portfolio; 
  • Assisted in advising on the acquisition of equity in a US health care services provider; and 
  • Whilst on secondment at BNP Paribas (March 2008 – September 2008) was involved in advising the bank on the following:
    o advising on the US$1.75 billion financing (including ECA covered tranches) for the expansion of a refinery in Gdansk, Poland;
    o advising on various discounting and trade credit facilities provided to oil trading companies;
    o advising on bank guarantees and performance bonds issued in favour of the banks clients (mainly oil & gas companies and in connection with bids for oil production and mining licences); and
    o advising on acquisition and related upstream financings and credit facilities for various oil & gas related companies.
