Practice Experience
Pani Ovečková concentrates on commercial law and legal theory, which she taught for many years as an external professor at the Department of Commercial and Financial Law at Comenius University, School of Law, in Bratislava.

In 1961 she became an employee of the Institute of Legal and State Matters of the Slovak Academy of Science. From 1995 until 1998 she was the director of this institute. She has  co-authored numerous publications, including Liability under Economics Law (1983) and The Dictionary of Commercial Law (1996). Dozens of her publications have appeared in professional and scientific magazines in the Slovak Republic and abroad.

Since joining White & Case Bratislava, Ms. Ovečková has worked on numerous transactions in the field of privatization, real estate law and commercial law. Recently, she has represented Deloitte & Touche, the financial advisors to the Ministry of Economics of the Slovak Republic, with respect to the privatization of Transpetrol, a.s., the Slovak company operating the transit oil pipeline.

She has also advised AIG/Lincoln CZ in its purchase of real estate and the subsequent financing and development of an industrial zone on this real estate in the town of Malacky in Slovakia.

Ms. Ovečková was also a member of the team of lawyers from the Bratislava office who participated in the preparation of amendments to the Slovak Act on Advocacy and the Slovak Act on Investment Incentives.
