Practice Experience
Poupak Anjomshoaa is a senior associate in the London Construction & Engineering Group with substantial experience in the energy, construction and engineering industries, particularly in domestic and international arbitration and English litigation. She joined White & Case in December 2003 from another major
UK
firm and has also worked in the international arbitration department of the firm's
Paris
office.
Examples of recent representative matters include:
Acting in an ICC arbitration in which White & Case represented a South American contractor in relation to disputes arising out of the construction of natural gas and LNG pipelines in South America;
Acting in an ICC arbitration in London in which White & Case represented a joint venture between European and Asian contractors in relation to the construction of a new rail project in the Far East;
Acting in an ICC arbitration in which White & Case represented a Government owned entity in the Caribbean, in relation to disputes arising out of the construction and operation of a desalination plant in the Caribbean;
Acting in an UNCITRAL arbitration in Miami in which White & Case represented a European contractor in relation to disputes arising out of the construction of a hydro-power station in South America;
Acting in an LCIA arbitration in Paris in which White & Case represented a joint venture of European contractors in relation to a dispute relating to IT equipment supplied pursuant to a BOT contract for a new international airport;
Acting for a wholly owned Government company in drafting and negotiating planning, design-build, operation and maintenance contracts for a rapid rail system in Trinidad; and
Acting for the owner in drafting and negotiating an EPC Contract (and related contracts) for the design, procurement, engineering and construction of a combined cycle gas turbine power generation plant in Portugal.
Examples of work done prior to joining White & Case include:
Representing subsidiaries (incorporated in the Philippines and Hong Kong) of a US corporation, in mediation and High Court litigation involving the construction of a power station in the Philippines;
Acting in an international arbitration in Hong Kong for a joint venture between French and Japanese contractors, in relation to the construction of underwater sewage tunnels in the Far East;
Acting in an ICC arbitration for an international project management group supplying services to the energy, construction and engineering industries, in relation to a general commercial contract. Advised in particular in relation to jurisdictional challenges;
Advising a French contractor in relation to disputes concerning gas turbines manufactured in Switzerland for a UK power plant. In particular, advised as to strategic and procedural options available to avert commencement of court proceedings in the United States and anti-suit injunctions; and
Advising a joint venture between a Japanese corporation and a US corporation in relation to disputes relating to the supply of propane compressors under an EPC contract for an LNG plant in Oman.
