White & Case Announces 94% London Trainee Retention Rate

London, January 9, 2012 ... Global law firm White & Case LLP has announced it will retain 15 of 16 of its London qualifying trainees in March, 2012. White & Case offered 15 positions to its March qualifiers, equating to a retention rate of 94%.

"We have consistently maintained our trainee retention rate, which is a credit to the Firm, the quality of our trainees, and the programme as a whole," said Philip Stopford, partner and training principal, White & Case. "As a truly global firm, we want our trainees to experience high profile, international and cross border work early in their careers so our programme guarantees trainees an international seat for six month as part of their two year training. We think this is an important part of the development of young lawyers today."

"Our trainee programme is a significant part of the Firm's organic growth strategy," said Oliver Brettle, London executive partner. "The programme strengthens our English law capabilities in London and across the Firm's global network of offices."

Since 1996 the White & Case trainee programme has grown steadily and has now reached 30 trainees per annum, a vast majority of who are retained by the Firm. In December 2011, the Firm promoted two former trainees to partner; Paul Harrison and Dipen Sabharwal.

White & Case had trainee retention rate of 93% in March, 2011 and 94% in September, 2011.
