White & Case Adds to Global Bank Finance Practice with Double Partner Hire in London
London,
December 15, 2010 ... Global law firm White & Case LLP is pleased to be joined in London by senior English qualified acquisition and bank finance partners Jacqueline Evans and Lee Cullinane, who between them bring almost 40 years' experience working on significant international finance transactions, including leveraged buy-outs, investment grade lending and restructurings.
"Jacqueline and Lee are excellent additions to our global banking practice, with the key qualities we want to offer our clients: technical excellence and commerciality, great client service and huge experience in complex transactions," commented Eric Berg, head of White & Case's Global Banking Practice.
Jacqueline and Lee join from Mayer Brown. Prior to this, Jacqueline was a partner for 10 years at Allen & Overy in its leveraged finance practice, while Lee spent nearly 15 years as a partner at Clifford Chance in its leveraged finance and banking group. Both have long track records of representing leading financial institutions and private equity groups.
Major finance transactions White & Case has advised on in the EMEA region this year include: the €6.6bn refinancing of Wind Telecomunicazioni; the first high-yield bond by a Turkish issuer in 15 years; the largest syndicated financing in Russia since 2008; the first ever Russian real estate premium listing on the London Stock Exchange; the largest Turkish IPO since 2008; sovereign bond issues by Montenegro, the Republic of Belarus, the Czech Republic, Lithuania and the Slovak Republic; the restructuring of Almatis, the world's largest alumina company, and the restructuring of Greek telecommunications operator Wind Hellas.
"We are in the business of offering clients top legal talent, coupled with global reach, and we have a clear focus on developing the excellent global pool of lawyers we already have, as well as attracting high-calibre partners that fit with the needs of our clients and the international work and culture of the firm," added Oliver Brettle, London Executive Partner.
Lee will join White & Case as the London head of leveraged finance, with Magdalene Bayim-Adomako continuing as overall head of London banking. As has been previously announced within the Firm, Rob Mathews will take over as Regional Section Head of the WEMEA Banking & Capital Markets Section on January 1, 2011, with David Barwise relocating to White & Case's Singapore office.
White & Case is a global law firm with 36 offices across 25 countries. It will have been in London for 40 years next year, and its City of London office is now the second largest in the Firm's global offering for clients, with more than 340 legal staff, including 130 in its Banking & Capital Markets group.
